What is Blur?

Blur (BLUR) is an NFT marketplace and aggregator launched in October 2022, built specifically for professional NFT traders. Unlike OpenSea which targets casual collectors, Blur provides a professional trading interface with real-time floor price data, portfolio analytics, batch listing tools, and aggregated listings from OpenSea and other platforms - similar to how a professional stock trading terminal differs from a retail brokerage app.

Blur charges 0% marketplace fees (compared to OpenSea's 2.5%), passing savings to traders. Creator royalties are optional on Blur, which generated controversy in the NFT community but drove massive adoption from volume traders who previously paid significant royalty costs.

Blend - NFT Lending Protocol

Blur launched Blend in May 2023 - a peer-to-peer NFT lending protocol where NFT holders can use their NFTs as collateral to borrow ETH without selling their collection pieces. Lenders offer loan terms, and borrowers can refinance to better terms any time. Blend rapidly became the largest NFT lending platform, adding significant DeFi utility to Blur's ecosystem.

BLUR Airdrop Strategy and Token

Blur's growth was partly driven by its aggressive airdrop strategy: three rounds of BLUR airdrops rewarded active traders and liquidity providers. This created a strong incentive for NFT traders to use Blur over competitors. BLUR governance token holders can vote on marketplace parameters and future protocol direction.

BLUR is available on Binance, Bybit, Bitget, and OKX. Indian NFT collectors and traders can access Blur's platform through any Ethereum-compatible wallet. The NFT market remains highly speculative and cyclical, making BLUR a high-risk exposure tied to overall NFT market sentiment.

Pros for Indian Investors

  • Overtook OpenSea in trading volume within months of launch
  • Zero marketplace fees attract high-volume professional traders
  • Blend NFT lending protocol adds genuine DeFi utility
  • Strong community engagement through airdrop incentive programs

Cons to Consider

  • Value entirely dependent on NFT market trading volumes (highly cyclical)
  • Optional royalties created backlash from NFT creators and artists
  • NFT market remains speculative with no guaranteed recovery timeline
